Dockside Theatre Company was founded in 2004 by Connie Rose and the late Beth Kraft. Their vision was to offer professional-level acting and stagecraft to the young people on and around the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Currently under the direction of Connie Rose, the creative team includes Music Director Sondra Meinhardt, Past Music Director Jerry Stott, Vocal Coach Gretchen Bender, Summer Choreographer Jennifer Lent, Dance Master Lee Brooks and others, Set Designer Tom Filkins, Costumers Melissa Rock, and Set Dressing/Prop Manager Dee Davis.
Located at 205 E. Baltic Avenue (MP 11) in Nags Head, NC, classes and performances are held in the Dream Center's theatre space. The company offers instruction in a variety of theatre related skills:
- Basic theatre knowledge/stagecraft
Actors are required to act professionally and encouraged to hone their craft while performing in both in-house and professionally-written shows.
The company's long-range goals include a stronger performance venue, a traveling troupe, a more intensive dance and voice program (including voice coaching) and instructiong in add-ons like tumbling, juggling, etc. Or course the success of the program has and always will depend on the generosity and support of parents, family, friends and the Outer Banks Community.
